Souls with holes

Few days back, while on a video call with my sister, a term emerged which waxed my head all philosophical. My dearest sibling and the propounder of the phrase, created a quite creative antonym for what we may call as pure souls. She declared the misfits, the ones who scream dangerous feelings as ‘Souls with holes’, obvious and clever. However, it got me thinking a bit more regarding this disgruntled distinction. Is anyone really pure? How can it be so? I am irritatingly self aware about the imperfect human specimen I am. Are others not?

How can someone have a completely pure soul with no darkness lurking? I am certain that I am right. No person is without nuances in character which might accelerate towards immoral. The phenomena of a person might be very much an illusion and the noumena the real truth. Almost always we are good because we value opinions not the morality attached to it. I won’t be rigid that its always the case but the ingrained psychological strain we have about public perception is what makes us move. So much so, we don’t even realize that what we do is what has been conditioned through eons of ages and might not be our novel thoughts. The fine line between your own person and the preachings embedded in you is very difficult to fathom and at the same time, quite easy to cross.

The idea of good and bad, begs for another very existential question. Who makes these significant contrasts anyway? How can something be pure or impure? What are the key points which pushes one to either of these categories? Alas, there is no answer to this. We make our own principles of ethical and corrupt. So, I very much believe that all of us are souls with holes. Nevertheless, the holes for you might be an elevation for the other. A tête-à-tête between your perspective and of the ones you seek to be or follow without question.

I might be wrong, but then again, am I?
